Bigfoot Jamboree

Bigfoot Jamboree has been a big part of the Happy Camp community for more than 50 years! Every Labor Day Weekend, the community, both past and present, comes together for this three day event. Festivities start on Friday night with a dinner and Bigfoot’s Pie Bake-Off for dessert. The fun continues with a dance featuring a live DJ. Saturday is filled with various events from Kids Day to a Bigfoot’s Babies Contest to Bigfoot’s King and Queen Coronation. The party continues on Saturday night with a live band. On Sunday morning, the main streets of Happy Camp are lined with residents and visitors, all gathering for the big Parade. Theme-decorated floats, fire engines, performers and Bigfoot himself comprise the parade throwing candy to children eagerly waiting.

The event is planned and produced each year by the Bigfoot Jamboree Committee. Formed in 2018, the committee is a non-profit group of Happy Camp community volunteers under Happy Camp Community Action, Inc. These volunteers organize, promote and execute the event. The committee is always in search of new volunteers to help with events and attend meetings. If you are interested in attending meetings, joining the committee or helping out with an event, please Contact Us. This year’s committee members include:

  • Abigail Tower, President
  • Julia Peters, Vice President
  • Yukon Sakota, Treasurer
  • Kirk Eadie, Secretary
  • Abby Yeager, Member @ Large
  • Linda Zink, Member @ Large
  • Justina Harrison, Member @ Large

Happy Camp, California

Happy Camp, California is nestled within the Klamath National Forrest along the Klamath River. Located approximately 70 miles from Yreka, California, it originated in the Gold Rush era. When mining declined, logging took over until 1995 when the last mill closed. Now a small but spirited community of just under 1200 residents, Happy Camp is called the “Heart of the Klamath”. The Klamath National Forrest has long been known as “bigfoot country.” It is only fitting that Bigfoot Jamboree be held in the Heart of the Klamath.
