The Happy Camp Coordinating Council can confirm that the 2016 Bigfoot Jamboree will commence as scheduled on Friday, September 2nd at 6pm. The Council has been working with the Happy Camp Community Service District and Fire Personnel regarding the Gap Fire and Fire Camp at the River Park. Many of the Fire Camp Firefighters will begin sleeping at an alternate camp location east of Happy Camp during Bigfoot Jamboree.
We are expecting to have both roads accessible to Bigfoot Jamboree vendors and patrons. We ask that all vehicles driving by the Fire Camp maintain a 5 mile per hour speed and be aware of firefighters and vehicles entering and leaving the Fire Camp. Happy Camp has experienced clear blue skies since the fire started, currently winds are pushing the smoke east and north into Yreka and Medford. Highway 96 near Horsecreek is currently open, vehicles are being piloted through the burn area due to heavy smoke and the potential for falling debris; there is no word as of yet if that will be lifted by the weekend. The Happy Camp Coordinating Council will be donating a portion of the proceeds from our Big Money Bingo on Saturday at 3pm to the Gap Fire Victims. We hope to see you at the River Park this weekend!
